If you haven't seen cake wrecks yet. Do it. The first time we picked up this book we laughed so hard (in the bookstore, I might add) that we had to sit down... And then lie down... So we could breathe. Maybe it was just one of those moments. But everyone needs to at least check out the website.
Now, every time I ruin a cake, I am reminded of my certain fate of being featured in their next 'best of' book.
Here's a sad reminder: my mock wedding cake. I begged my roommates to eat it as fast as they could before my fiancé found out and banned me from making the cake for our real wedding. (He found it and took a picture)
However. This post isn't a lamentation of all the poor cake mixes that got turned into something sad. This is a story of delicious, fixable mistakes.
My yellow cake mix fell in the middle. Probably because I used a square glass pan. What to do?
Easy tres leche cake:
step 1. mix
- 1cup half-and-half
- 1can condensed milk
- 1can evaporated milk
step 2. grab a long toothpick and stab your victim 30 or 40 times.
step 3. pour milk mixture over cake and let it soak in the fridge until you feel ready to eat it
Add strawberries and whipped cream if you'd like. It's supposed to be soggy anyway, so the 'look' doesn't matter: Problem solved.
