Band weaving is one of the oldest forms of weaving. Instead of a large loom, you tie the warp between a stationary object and your own waist so that YOU control the tension with your body movements. This makes the craft very portable and bite-sized. However, just because you’re weaving on a smaller scale doesn’t mean you lose out on creativity. There are so many beautiful patterns and different techniques to try, based on the type of heddle you use.
ABOUT THE KIT
In this kit, you will get all the materials you need to set yourself up for band weaving, plus yarn and hardware to make projects like a lanyard, shoelaces, a bookmark and a phone wristlet. The kit includes exclusive tools that I designed and 3d printed in my own home to make weaving as easy as possible, which means they aren’t available anywhere else!
ABOUT THE CLASS
You’ll also receive a complete class that explains how band weaving works as you create a sampler piece, how to build on the basic skills to explore techniques like ‘stretchy’ bands, tubular bands and pickup patterns. The class also includes a pattern library with blank templates to create your own patterns.

Q+A
Where can I use this? Anywhere you can sit or stand! The backstrap loom attaches around your waist and to any sturdy object (chair, table leg, piano, fridge handle… you get the idea). It’s one of the most portable weaving styles there is.
I’m not very creative - what if mine doesn’t look good? That’s the best part! The patterns are designed to look beautiful no matter what color combo you pick. There are plenty of patterns to choose from and even a template to design your own. It’s like having me right beside you as you learn.
Can I do this with kids? Yes! Older kids love this (especially if they like making friendship bracelets or crafts). It’s a great, forgiving, hands-on activity.
How is this different from your other weaving kits? This one focuses on band weaving - smaller, quicker projects with instant results. It’s the perfect next step after frame weaving or punch needle if you’re craving something fresh and tactile.
Can I just get the class? Absolutely. You can get the digital class on its own and source your own supplies (which I will go over in the class).
Will it be included in the membership? Yes, it will! I love my membership community and will be adding this class to my membership early 2026.
Do I need to get the kit? There is a limited supply of kits, but they include everything you could want for a premium experience. If you are unable to get the kit you can just get the class and source your own supplies!
Do I need experience to start?: Nope! This kit was made for total beginners. It has step-by-step videos and detailed patterns that walk you through everything.
How long does it take to make something? Most projects can be done in short, satisfying bursts, and put easily put down and picked up. You can easily finish a band in a weekend or even an evening.
What can I make with it? So many things! Lanyards, bookmarks, keychains, phone straps, wristlets, even shoelaces. There’s also a bonus tutorial for making a tablet-woven bag strap if you want to try something more advanced.
What makes this kit different? Every part was designed to make weaving simpler and smoother. Some of the pieces are custom 3d printed by me - not available anywhere else.
Can I choose my own colors? Yes! You can pick your own palette of premium cotton yarn and each colorway includes enough for multiple projects.
